I start the installation for Arc2Earth v3 on windows 7 64-bit install using Arcgis 10 desktop. Hangs on registering assemblies and goes no further.

    thanks for screen grab

Does the RegAsm.exe file being used exist on your computer?
    Do you have admin rights?
What happens when you run that command line manually with the /verbose switch?

    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\RegAsm.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arc2Earth LLC\Arc2Earth\KMLExporter.dll" /codebase /verbose

it doesn't look like you have admin rights on that machine. Arc2Earth requires admin rights for the install (so we can update the registry and register our app with ArcGIS)

    Regasm.exe exists
Yes I am signed on as admin and did run as admin for the install just to make sure
I did not run the command locally and if I do-- do you want me to cancel the installation first?

If I am signed on as admin and use "run as admin" for the install -- how would I not have rights?

i would agree, I'm basing it on the error message from the command line screen you provided. You may be using Network Admin credentials versus Local ones, it's hard to say without knowing your computer/network are setup.

It could be some other issue with RegAsm (a Microsoft utility) but it's going to be hard to get A2E installed without it running successfully

We have the User account control thing turned on, because when you open regedit there is a prompt for user account control requiring you to answer yes. I assume that is why I am getting the error message on the command line.

I had to disable user account control and reboot pc for the command line register to work.

I really don't know but it sounds like it's part of the problem. If that setting does require UI feedback for registry changes, it would explain why the installer is just hanging instead of terminating like what would happen if the user did not have admin rights

have the same problem on Windows 7 64bit. Did you ever find a solution to this?

There are 2 attachments. Number 1 is immediately before it hangs (after pressing continue)

This afternoon, I encountered the same problem described by Mark E. I have attached text copy of what is shown under the "details" part of that memory access error message. This error did not occur on a 32-bit machine I installed it on earlier, but the A2E toolbars were not opening in ArcMap after an upgrade from build 3.0.4076.17110, so I was trying to install on a 64-bit workstation.

    hello everyone

We are working on a permanent fix for this issue but in the mean time, you can roll back the Windows Updates that are preventing Arc2earth from working

    sorry for the problems

I'm also having a problem installing to Window 7 64-bit. See screenshot.
When I followed your link above, it took me to the login screen and I logged in, but I didn't find the fix. Just recent discussions, which didn't include this one.

Please make sure you have downloaded the current installer. Only V3 is supported at this time
