Registering an Arc2Earth License in ArcMap
Arc2Earth requires a valid serial number to function properly. You can purchase a serial number for the different editions, each of which unlocks more functionality in the software. After you purchase online, you will receive an email that confirms your purchase and includes your serial number. You can also register for the free Community Edition and receive a serial number by email.
A serial number look likes this:
A2EV3P-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Each major version is contained in the prefix. The above sample
is an Arc2Earth V3 serial number that can only be used with the V3
installers. If you have an A2EV2... serial number,
you'll need to
download the older installers
Each edition has a different prefix as well:
- A2EV3CE - Community Edition
- A2EV3P - Professional Edition
- A2EV3U - Publisher Edition
- A2EV3E - Enterprise Edition
additionally, the new Data Services has it's own serial number and prefix:
- A2EV3GD - Arc2Earth Data Services (see more at bottom of page)
In all cases, you will need to enter this serial number into registration window from ArcMap. If you have Admin rights when you install the software, you should see this window appear at the end of the installation. You must enter your serial number exactly as it appears. It is sometimes easy to get extra spaces when you copy the text from an email so make sure when you enter it in the window, it is the exact value only.
If you do not see this window after the install or if you want to upgrade or change your serial number later on, you can clear your serial number using one of three methods
From the main Arc2Earth toolbar's Help menu, click on "Upgrade License"
From the main Option window's General tab, click on "Reset"
From the About window, click on "Reset"
Citrix and Windows Terminal Servers
A note for Citrix and Windows Terminal Servers (especially 64bit versions). Once you've installed Arc2Earth and registered it at least once (usually the admin for the machine), you can quickly register each additional user of the Citrix server by going to the main Option window's General tab and checking the "This is a Windows Server or Citrix Server" option.
Arc2Earth Data Services
The new Arc2Earth Data Services also requires an additional serial number to unlock it's functionality. This is separate from the serial numbers talked about above and can only be used with an Arc2Earth Pro serial number and above (cannot be used with Community Edition)
To unlock this functionality, purchase your Data Services subscription online. After you receive the confirmation email, go to the main Options window's Data Services tab. Enter your serial number (beginning with "A2EV3GD-") into the textbox and click on the validate button. You should immediately see if your serial number is valid and when it will expire. This process, as well as the data service itself, requires an internet connection.
